I have a confession to make. When we first started thinking about our “Mix of the Week” feature, I assumed that picking out a recent mix I’d like to share would be an easy and fun thing to do. After all, there’s so much amazing music being released at the moment and so many great DJ’s out there. Turns out that picking one mix from everything that’s out there is anything but easy!
So after much deliberation and head scratching, I decided to plump for this short but sweet selection from Delroy Edwards. Featuring loads of unreleased material from the man himself, it’s a raw and uncompromising thirty minutes of obscure samples, distorted kicks and ghetto swagger.
I had the pleasure of hearing him smash La Cheetah at the L.I.E.S. showcase in May, and with the exception of the mighty Solid Gold Safari weekender, it was my favourite event this year. This mix captures the vibe of that night well – sweaty basement music with loads of surprises thrown in.
Play it loud!
